COME TO THE ISLAND
GETTING ON ISLAND
To get on and off island, you will either fly directly or arrive via ferry. The ferry at Woods Hole can accommodate passengers and personal vehicles.
STAYING ON ISLAND
We highly recommend staying in Edgartown or Oak Bluffs. These two major towns have lots going on and transportation logistics get easier.
ON-ISLAND TRANSPO
The easiest option is to have a car on island. For Saturday evening, please do not plan to drive to the venue without checking with us - parking is limited.
THE NITTY GRITTY DETAILS
-
The most common flight paths onto the island leave from either Boston Logan or JFK in New York. CapeAir services flights out of Boston, while JetBlue runs from NYC. The MVY airport offers ample transportation to your final destination. You can pick up a taxi, hire a private car, or pick up a rental car right from the airport terminal. It is worth noting that the CapeAir flight is a 6-person Cessna plane. It’s beautiful but not advised for nervous fliers.
-
The most frequently used ferry departs from Woods Hole, Massachusetts. The 45-minute journey across the Vineyard Sound will land you at island ports in either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven depending on schedule. This large ferry is the only vessel that can accommodate both passengers and cars. If you plan to bring a car onto the island, book your reservations through the Steamship Authority ASAP. Advanced reservations are not required for passengers.
-
Peter Pan offers direct bus service from New York City, Logan Airport and Boston's South Station to the Woods Hole dock. From Boston, you could be at the docks in about two hours. The bus schedules are well-aligned to the ferry schedule, though the unexpected is always a possibility and giving yourself leeway here is always advised.
-
PUBLIC TRANSIT
The Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) offers a comprehensive route system that connects towns like Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, Aquinnah, Chilmark, and West Tisbury. Frequency of service varies with the season and relying on bus alone would require time-management and staying in strategic locations. You can pay as you go, or purchase multi-day passes on the buses or at the Steamship Authority.
TAXIS
Taxis meet incoming ferries and planes. Many are available 24/7 and offer larger vans. Taxi companies can also arrange island tours for you if you want to see as much of the island as possible on your own schedule.
• Atlantic Cab (508-693-7110)
• Martha’s Vineyard Taxi (508-693-8660)
• Adam Cab LLC (508-627-4462):
• Lighthouse Taxi Service (508-645-6066)
RIDE SHARES
This is the least reliable option. Though Uber & Lyft are on island, surge pricing at popular locations drive up prices and limited availability can have you waiting longer than you might like.
BIKES
With designated bicycle paths throughout the island and a culture of bike safety, the island is very friendly for two-wheeled transportation. Rental shops and bike delivery services abound, and your lodging might even have a few bikes you can use during your stay.
-
There aren’t any hotel blocks reserved for this event, but we highly recommend staying in either Edgartown or Oak Bluffs. Rates in these areas can run anywhere from $200-300 per night all the way up into the thousands depending on what you want.
Oak Bluffs
Oak Bluffs boasts a number of older, historical Victorian homes that have been transformed into cute BnB’s. Booking here will likely be cheaper than Edgartown, and there is a large public beach with historical roots that is easily accessible - Inkwell Beach.
Edgartown
Pricier and fancier, Edgartown has the only waterfront hotels on the island, and a walk down to the Edgartown lighthouse can be really special for sunrise or sunset. For waterfront lodging check out The Harborside Inn ($$$) or The Harborview Hotel ($$$$).

Given the guest count, we’d love if your kiddos can stay home on the night of the big event. If that is a non-starter for you and would compromise your ability to show up, reach out to Meghan and Cole. On the other hand, the island has a variety of different services that can help take care of your kids so you can dance the night away.
